Reversi skill competitions

Reversi (often called Othello in product settings) combines positional judgement with sharp tactics. VictoryPool lists paid fields with published Rand economics and server-side logging suited to certification.

What the game is

Players place discs to outflank the opponent along a line, flipping captured segments. The game ends when neither side can move; the highest disc count wins unless the field specifies another rule.

How to play

Legal moves require at least one outflank in a straight line. Passing can occur when no legal move exists. Corners are usually strong anchors; edge play without corner support is often risky.

Why skill matters

Quiet moves that swing parity separate advanced play from rushed flips. The game rewards planning several plies ahead while defending against sharp corner and edge tactics.

Strategy basics

Fight for stable squares, avoid early gifts adjacent to the X squares unless you have a concrete follow-up, and practise endgames where parity and move order decide the margin.
